Cycling Without Age - Fort Collins
About Us
Cycling Without Age - Fort Collins is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Fort Collins, Colorado. We are an affiliate of the worldwide movement Cycling Without Age, cyclingwithoutage.com We partner with senior living communities, care facilities and local organizations to bring older adults and others with limited mobility out into the fresh air for slow, safe, and joyful trishaw rides along the Poudre River Trail.
Our mission is simple and powerful: to give seniors the right to feel the wind in their hair and the sun on their face.
Through the magic of the bicycle, we help riders reconnect with the world around them, enjoy the beauty of Fort Collins, and share stories that might otherwise stay untold.
What We Do
- Offer free trishaw rides to seniors and people with limited mobility
- Partner with Activity Directors and care staff to schedule ride days
- Train volunteer “Pilots” to ride safely, listen deeply, and create a warm, welcoming experience
Rides are slow, safe, and unhurried. Pilots focus on comfort and conversation so riders can relax, take in the scenery, and simply enjoy being outside.
Why It Matters
Many seniors spend most of their time indoors or in the same familiar spaces. A simple ride along the river or through a neighborhood can:
- Lift mood and reduce feelings of isolation
- Spark memories and meaningful conversations
- Strengthen connections between seniors, families, and the wider community
Cycling Without Age - Fort Collins exists to make these moments possible, one ride at a time.

I’ve been a resident of Fort Collins since 1979 and always actively involved in cycling. In 2021, I was riding along the Poudre River Trail in Windsor and saw a trishaw with two smiling seniors enjoying the ride. My first reaction was simple: We should have this in Fort Collins. In 2026, I became more determined to bring this to our community after talking with folks from City government, local businesses including the DDA, the Community Foundation and our local care facilities. I hope you will join us in supporting this service for the seniors in our community.

Daryl Stolte

I have called Northern Colorado home for 45 years, building deep ties to the community through real estate investing and mentoring local youth in mathematics. My journey to co-founding Cycling Without Age - Fort Collins began with a personal inspiration: my 97-year-old mother-in-law, Beverly. Watching the profound joy and sense of freedom she experienced during trishaw rides while living in a memory care facility sparked a mission to bring that same magic to others. Believing that everyone deserves the "right to wind in their hair," I am committed to connecting local seniors with the outdoors and our vibrant Fort Collins community. In a fitting tribute to the woman who inspired this effort, our organization's inaugural trishaw will be affectionately named "Miss Beverly," carrying her legacy of joy forward on every ride.
